Besides the innumerable allopathic pills available in the market to help quit smoking, herbal Help to quit smoking is an upcoming alternative. These herbal chewable pills are now available in India also.

Herbal pills are nicotine free and herbal formulated to quit smoking. The tablets contain ayurvedic herbs like yastimadhu, khadir, lavang, brahmi, shakapusphi, amlaki, ela and tulsi each in standardized potential quantities.

These pills aim to suppress the craving for tobacco though an ingredient called eugenol which is present in lavang or clove. Eugenol converts nicotine into cotinine after metabolism. Cotinine is excreted through urine and thus the level of nicotine decreases in the body. The ingredient Amla contains anti-oxidants such as tannoid and vitamin C which help anti-aging. The ingredients like brahmi and shakapusphi modulate brain activities. Yastimadhu regulate the norepinephrine and dopamine levels in the brain. Thus the pills help in dealing with depression. They also help to maintain oral health. The pills inhibit the growth of anaerobic peridontal oral pathogens and provide fresh breath. They also strengthen the gums. The pills soothe the throat and decrease the intensity of cough caused due to smoking. The ingredient Amla exerts antitussive activity and decrease coughing.

These pills can be taken whenever the smoker craves for nicotine and faces withdrawal symptoms. A maximum of six tablets can be consumed each day. They are taken 15 to 20 days before quitting smoking. Made from herbal extracts these pills are not known to have any side effects. Usage of these pills combined with a determination to quit smoking can help to turn down cigarettes.

As you know, nicotine is the single reason why you're addicted to cigarettes. Nicotine is responsible for the pleasurable relaxed feeling when you smoke. It releases dopamine into your body which causes these feelings. Your body has gotten so accustomed to Nicotine that it depends on it to feel normal. The best way to break free of nicotine is to completely stop taking it. Although nicotine patches and gums are popular, they actually have a high failure rate because you are still giving our body what you shouldn't. Herbal pills to quit smoking are so effective because they'll give your body similar effects of smoking, without nicotine. This makes it a lot more effective to quit smoking, and lot less painful during the first week or two.

dopamine and other brain chems are QUITE invovlved..I quit w/ Chantix which blocks that 'rush' from smoking, and it is saod to help w/ brain chemistry...I found some herbals that helped my moods, for I experienced 'lows' even 6-8 months clean: mucana prureins, Sam-e, tyrosine..Ive quit smoking for 3 years--google these items, and you'll be surprised

Atmittedly, some of the lows came frm alcohol...while not PHYSICALLY dependent, I realized my 'freedom' from smoking about 30-50days...but something else I realized..while not drinking every day , out on happy hour, I realized a dependence, either every 2-3 days or at LEAST once twice a week to go out for happy hour...not a good thing...my partner and I are working on is, one day at a time..we realize we have some dependency issues, and need to reduce our going out one/twice a week....if just that...we mentioned that we might become teetotalers in sometime

When I quit smoking, I quit drinking for 30 days...no withdrawls...I did feel finds 'outside myself' around that 6th or 7th day, but progressively felt better...my moods seemed to be more stable, not having to take Sam-e every day anymore, felt calmer and serene---that 'pink cloud'...the reason for quitting was #!--to see if I could, and to see how I felt...the reason for going back---(piss poor) but wanted to be back w/ 'my friends'
