A few important things to remember about Recovery Realm:

We are not AA, NA, or any other recovery program. We are not affiliated with, nor are we a part of any organization. We are a privately owned site.

As a privately owned site, we have established site policies, which are well documented throughout the site. When people violate the policies, we have the right to ban them from the site (which is also well documented). We take these actions not because we enjoy the “Power trip”, but to keep the site safe for our chatters.

People and things online are not always as they seem.

Sadly, not everyone online is who they say they are. There are those who enjoy disrupting the site, there are those who prey on the vulnerabilities of others, and there are those who simply use others for their own benefit. The Realm’s Trusted Servants may know things that other chatters do not, and will take action based on that knowledge. These actions are kept private from other chatters only to prevent gossip, which helps no one. While most of us like to be able to trust others, sometimes a dose of healthy cynicism is required to protect ourselves, and other chatters. Beware of half truths – you may have gotten the wrong half.

We expect people to treat each other as they would like to be treated, at the very least.

This means no gossiping, no personal attacks on other chatters, no requests for money, no sexually predatory behavior, no excessive foul language – in short, it means “if you wouldn’t want it done to you, don’t do it to others”. Very simple.

The site was designed for people in recovery OVER THE AGE OF 18.

In other words, we are all adults here – let’s act like adults. Monitors will not get involved in personal arguments between chatters. No one will be banned simply because another chatter requests it. Decisions are made based on overall behavior, not the actions of one person to another. Not everyone gets along – that is life, and as adults in recovery, we learn to deal with that aspect of life.
We have been through some trying times here lately, and each of these points has been a factor in the things that have happened. We hope that with your cooperation and understanding, we can move forward and continue to embrace the journey.
