I just thought maybe people could suggest good books they have read whether they are recovery related or not.

My suggestions are :

The Four Agreements

A Man Called Peter by Peter Marshall

Christy by Peter Marshall

the last 2 have been around forever so you should be able to find them at a second hand book store

Great idea Melly !!

Here are some that I have read and have helped me so much with my recovery along the way:

Good Relationships are Good Medicine by Barbara Powell

The next few were written by Charles L. Whitfield:

Boundaries and Relationships

Healing the Child Within

Gift to Myself

Co-Dependence (healing the human condition)

My Recovery ( a personal plan for healing)

The next were written by John Bradshaw:

Homecoming  ( reclaiming your inner child, discovering your essence, your deepest unique self ) was an awesome book

Healing the Shame that Binds You

The Family

Dark Secrets

The Dance of Anger by Harriet Goldhor Learner

Revolution from Within by Gloria Steinem

People of the Lie by M. Scott Peck

The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle

The Cracker Factory by Joyce Rebeta-Burditt ( a nice little novel abt a women alcoholic)

For me it was so healing and worth all the hours to absorb what all these books brought to my life. How they helped me sort out all the caos and hurt that was there as well as to understand how to get past so many things, and be able to move forward in life and in my recovery from addiction as well as my old perceptions.

Hope eveyone has a great day and don't forget to be GOOD to YOU !

Here are two that I recently discovered:

10 Secrets for Success and Inner Peace -- Dr. Wayne Dyer

Change Your Mind and Your Life Will Follow -- Karen Casey -- this one is written by a recovering alcoholic, and is based on the 12 steps.  Great read for those in or out of AA.

I also love A New Pair of Glasses by Chuck C., The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle, and The Spirituality of Imperfection by Ernest Kurtz.

If you know any young people coming into AA, The Big Book Unplugged by John R.  is a great explanation of the BB in terms that younger people can understand -- it's good for us old folks too!!
