Evening friends!
I have to share this day with you. Thanks to Duck's idea I thought this would be cool too. On a seperate post of course.
Today was awesome! I went to my usual Sunday morning serenity meeting. Which the topic was "We are not a glum lot."
After that meeting a friend of mine met me at my house and she and I traveled north a bit to this festival going on in Amherst.
A Manocan Indian Pow Wow! There was all sorts of things happening there and dancing and crafts and things to buy and talk about. I found loads of wolf goodies and some pelts as well. There were birds of prey there including a 45 year old golden eagle! I talked with several of the native indians about spirituality and ate their food and read some of their history. They were the last tribe in Virginia that Virginia registered as A tribe.
The day was absolutely beautiful. To see them in all their color and enjoying life. I bought my friend a necklace made from them out of stone. She bought me a dreamcatcher made from a the Cherokee. She bougth herself one too. I bought a t-shirt that had an indian warrior on it with wolves running and howling. I got to listen to the wolves howling in the wild. (as this indian said they should be left) The sounds were haunting yet soothing too. We listened to drum beats and flute music.
We took many pictures and even a few with some of the indians. We are going back to Amherst some time to see the museum and learn more about their culture.
While we were there I met this one guy that had a dog an Akida? I am going to go to a site and adopt one. This is a beautiful dog and very gentle and kind. This guy has rescued a stallion as well and has an organic farm up in the mountains.
There is so much more I could share of what I saw and enjoyed. My point is this.
If all we were to do was get sober and sit around like bumps on a log what point would there be to getting sober in the first place?
I challenge each and every one of you to not only get and do what is nessesary to get and stay sober but also to grow and become HAPPY JOYOUS AND FREE!
Find something to do thats fun and go and laugh and enjoy, learn and experience what it really is to be sober and alive again. For heavens sake haven't we all spent enopugh time living dead?
