Tonight in chat, we had several fairly new people joining us.  It is wonderful to see new faces here and to see people new to recovery.

What is even more wonderful is the response of those in the chat room -- when one of these newer folks had a question or problem they wanted to discuss, even the most relentless of chatters (myself included) got quiet and listened to the newcomer.

What a pleasure that is to see -- I have been to other recovery chat sites where newcomers are often ignored, or people are too busy with their chatting to listen to their problems.

I am truly proud to be a member of Recovery Realm.

Ditto Carol. I have been to other sites and when seeing a newcomer come in have seen them either ignored or slammed. To see now people coming into this site thrills me and gives us all the opportunity to put up or shut up. Every person, rich or poor, educated or not. No matter what color, religion if any, or social status is an equal here for what we have in common other than our disease is that at some point we were all, ALL! newcomers and unless have been hit by lightning and have suffered memory loss can recall how we felt our first few days and months. How often have we heard a newcomer saying something and being more honest about their feelings than we ourselves have? How often have we heard a pearl come from the mouth of a newcomer? Have related to exactly what they were saying? Lest we miss it entirely trying to figure out what they are saying and how to belittle it or mock it or ignore it?
The newcomer is the future not only of any chat site but also of our recovery. They are needed, loved and cared about. Thats what I love about this site as well. Not once have I seen anyone including those rumored to have in other rooms beat up on a newcomer. Hence the differance between living in the solution or in the problem.
What I also love about this site is that I can post posts and use my name and my name only and not have to hide behind one or several! user names. Key word being user...

I can HONESTLY say I am happy to be a part of a recovery community that is growing by leaps and bounds. I can also say to anyone here that this site has helped me to GROW.  Freely giving of Honesty, Love, Compassion, and of anything they have to help folks like us to go deeper, and to learn how to live a new way of life. There are folks here with Quality Sobriety, and not afraid to tell us how it is, not what we wanna hear.  I for one, need that.

I feel blessed seeing this site grow, sharing the laughs in the mtg's after the mtgs, Priceless.  Tonight, I watched the garden grow and it was the most precious moment of my recovery and that is from my heart....

Thank you all, my friends, my family, I have found "home"...........................

To a desolate person an act of kindness can be the difference between getting bitter and getting better..............
