Where there is good there is also evil. It has been a very long week for those effected by what took place on Monday. We are at a loss as to why this happened and for whom it happened to. Some have asked why God would allow something so evil to exsist and take place in this world. I heard this asked today and thought about that question myself. I have often asked myself that very same question at times in my life. But I also know that where there is good, there is also evil. I have seen this displayed time and time again. What took place here Monday was not the first time evil has shown it's head. I am certain it will not be the last either. This is a world full of both good and evil. Both take many forms and yeild to eachother at times. In the end good prevails but often the sting of evil must be felt first.

The God of my understanding did not and does not allow these things to happen. His children do. The God of my understanding does not care what color your skin is, what language you speak, which church you attend or even if you go. My God cares not what you look like or sound like. He cares little how rich you are or how poor you are, weather you drink or drug, lie or steal, rape or murder. You could be the highest of all religious preists or the lowest of all murderers or at any point in between and My God will love you no more nor no less than any of His other children. He loves us all the same. Certainly He is saddened when we do evil and wishes we would do good but He forgives us for our shortcomings.

Certainly what took place here Monday may lead one to question their faith. It may also strengthen ones faith for those that know it is not God that allows these things to happen. But that He is there for us when these things happen. Just as I did not believe he was there with me when my bottom occured. I know now that he was. The young man that took so many lives Monday could not see his God. Evil had taken him. But God was there with him as well for he is also ones of God's children. Just because we can not put our hands on Him does not mean that He is not here.

I look back now to the Prayer of Saint Francis and what it says to me. This is what God wishes for me and all His children. That is my belief.

I am an american. That does not make me any better or worse than anyone else. I am a spiritual being having human experiences. I just happen to have been born in america.

When I was a boy in grade scholl I rmemeber home room. Role call and friends. I remember standing with my hand over my heart and pledging alleigence to the flag. I remember prayer in school and the word of God. I remember being tought right from wrong, good from evil and rememebr the dicipline for not doing what was right. I grew up in a time of The Waltons and Andy Griffith. Leave it to Beaver and Gilligans Island. I listened today as the debates continued as to what or who was to blame and one thing rang true and is also mentioned in our literature.

The closer we drew ourselves to God the more He revieled Himself to us. The opposite also applies...

Tomorrow I will wear the maroon and orange and at noon observe a moment of silence.

Heaven help the first football team to walk into lane statium and face a team united by tragity but reborn by faith and love and support from all the people that have come to our little peice of God's world.
