Hello everyone,  I am new to this site as of yesterday.  I quit drinking 12/31/07, yeah.  I guess I have come to the realization that I am a functioning alcoholic.  I didn't drink during the day but pretty much binge drank every night.  I realized that is was getting me nowear fast and I hate the next day hang over and guilt so hear I am.  I am 32 and have been binge drinking since I was 16.  I can't just have a couple for the most part.  This site seams like an amazing place for support and to keep me on track.

Katie

Welcome Katie!

I'm Kathy, an alcoholic in California. Congrats on your newfound sobriety! I look forward to seeing you here on the board and also in our chatroom.

Hi Katie,

Welcome!  Congratulations on 8 days of sobriety.  I also didn't drink during the day but, like you, the remorse and the hangovers were killing me.

With the help of a lot of other people and the 12 Steps of AA, I haven't had to take a drink in several years.   Do you know how to find AA meetings in your area?  Most areas have listings on line or a telephone number in the phone book to call.

Hoping to hear more from you!

Anne

I too, am new to your site. I have some problems navigating here, but hopfully will figure it all out. I was just on chat because I have a problem that I would like help with. The person I was chatting with left. I still do not have my mind at ease. I cannot go to my sponsor with this problem because it is a fear I have of my sponsee and she knows her. I would rather get outside help on this one. If someone out there as the time for me, could you please contact me in my private email address so that I can keep this anonymous? It would be greatly appreciated. My email address is pcloudbsa@yahoo.ca

Hope to hear from someone soon.

Hi !! Kbierman, I relate to your story as I am sure alot of us do.I remember my hangovers and I don't ever want them again.I would wake up in a panic wondering what I had done the night before, wish I didn't have to wake up sometimes when I did remember the night before,no control over my emotions and would snap at any little thing. My friends told me I was a very nice person sober but when I drank alcohol I would turn into a monster.I would always promise myself I would have more control next time.As soon as I picked up my first drink all those promises I made to myself and others vanished.I would continue like this for years. My insanity started when I was 19 years of age,I could not drink like normal people from day one.I continued drinking slowly at first but that did not last long.I started drinking light beer and ended up drinking twice as much(25-30 cans).I would drink anything going to forget the lying and deceitful behaviour I showed towards others .One lie turns to five, five turns to10,10 turns to 100,when did it stop? when I stopped drinking. When did I stop hurting, when I stopped drinking.I have only been on this site for a short time and in that time I have found alot of help from people who understand my addiction. Thanks for your share Kbierman.Regards Baby.

Thanks for all of the possitive encouragement, you guys, it really means alot to me.  It is nice to know that there are others who are going through the same things or have been through as me.  I think about the stupid things that I did when I was tipsy (drunk and stupid) and I feel so bad.  But at the same time I feel so good going forward feeling strong and not putting others through that any more.  I also feel blessed that my body will now heal and become healthy and strong.  Everyday I feel healthier.
