Welcome Brittany. Glad to have you here. I have to agree with carol on what she has said. I certainly got comfortable with sharing here. I have also made many great friends here. I consider them to be family, as I feel that close to them. Even though I have not met them face to face. I feel this close because of the things that are shared amongst those of us here. The best thing that I can suggest is get to face to face meetings and find someone with whom you can connect with well. Someone who has what you want in sobriety. Preferably someone who has worked the steps at least once. Hope that this helps you and again welcome to the realm. :-)

I'm so happy to have found this site omg! Today is my first sober day in 15 years. I woke up, had an epiphany n started searching the internet for support. I actually had tears in my eyes when I found this because it is soooo what I need right now since I spend half my life online. HIIIIII EVERYBODYYYYY! |

| howz u steve?good to c u here,looking to connect to others in the same situation as you.what is your situation?im an alcoholic,a can never drink without winding up drunk and in blackouts,and to go with that a head that tells me "next time will be different."."just watch what your doing". nightmare.. but im not suffering tday.why?..through a spiritual "AWAKENING" as a result of the steps...how can that work?i dont know?:D.. but if its not broke dont try and fix it |

hey every1 just back from my home group.we wer discussing the mental obsession.(one day ill control and enjoy my drinking)...dont no bout any of yous but when i first came to aa i really nevr wanted to stop. all i wanted was trouble free drinking!...to drink with impunity the book calls it(freedom from loss).. other aas wer telling me dont lift the 1st drink and i wont need anotha..how true but how can i not lift 1 drink when ive got a head telling me that "this time it will be different)??? whats a boy to do?? sort out the head and the body will follow...i was trying to sort out the body hoping the mind would follow...how wrong was i?? |

is alcohol addictive?was i addicted to alcohol is that my problem?if alcohol was addictive then what about the millions/billions of social drinkers around the world.woould that not make them addicted to alcohol?......me personnaly,i am not nor have never been addicted to nor had any issues with drugs..i was however invited to speak at an NA meeting,where i heard the best example of the allergy to alcohol and the addition of substances....when an addict craves drugs they take the drug and the craving stops..when an alcoholic starts to drink,then and only then does the phenomona of craving begins..the craving doesnt start until we take alcohol...100%identification in that for me..so for me.no i have never been addicted to alcohol,allergic yes ,addicted no..so what about withdrawel symptoms i.e. sweats,shakes,etc? thats exactly what they are..withdrawel symptoms,the body is getting rid of the toxins..nothing to do with addiction..for me |

HI All,
I just registered at this site................looking to strengthen my recovery from drug and alcohol abuse............I've been clean and sober since Nov. 15th 2009.
I was sober for 5 1/2 years...........out for 1 1/2 years..................sober for a year...........relapsed............now I'm back since Nov.............I know I don't have to continue to relapse..........that's not a pattern I wish to continue.
I lost 2 dear friends who made relapse a habit.......God bless them.
So, I'm psyched to be here. |

I did IOP for a year -- I know the struggle of day to day life and also treatment thrown in. Not easy, but worth every bit of effort you put in! With that said, I hope you utilize these meetings as an extra bonus for your recovery and that you continue face to face meetings. It is essential to build that local support group.

umm hi i'm new here and to recovery. I started a recovery program Aug 30th 2010. I just finished it the 12th of October. I was told a na meeting at lest once a week would help me as well, I have no way to get to one so I did and search and found this site.
my DOC was pot, any and all pills, and I have a history with other drugs 9harder drugs but aint used them since 2004 and i'm proud to say that) My biggest problem right now is pot and pills and trying to stay clean so I don't lose my baby boy.
I'd like to go by Lady Rosebud for the time being. I will be on the site at lest once a day i'm sure. |

Hello all!! I am so happy I found this website tonight. I've heard of online recovery forums, but never experienced one for myself. I've been looking for a site like that for the last couple days, but this was the only one I was able to register for and use right away... The rest of them an administrator had to accept me first - well needless to say I didn't get an email back so I guess I was not accepted - Oh well their loss :)
So anyways - here I am :D
I'm new to recovery online but I'm involved in real life 12 step meetings. I'm a member of NA & serve as GSR for my homegroup. I'm looking forward to "meeting" all of you and checking out an online meeting.

| quick question: how do i get my sister to come look at this site with out offending her or getting her mad.. see in her world only people that use crack, and heroin are addicts or tecatos thats another word hispanics have for junkies, she thinks she doesnt have a problem because she only does cocaine and drinks on the weekends.. thats every weekend and when she starts she goes on for 2 to 3 days. it hurts me cause shes my baby sister. but shes grown, thats what she tells me. |

Welcome sasha :)
The way to get a sponsor is to go to a face to face meeting and ask. It is recommended in sponsorship that men stick with men sponsors and women with women sponsors.
While online meetings are very beneficial; face to face meetings are essential in recovery. We have a program of action, and part of that action is making meetings, getting phone numbers, and doing the steps.
If you are here for Saturdays online meeting I look forward to greeting you then. In the chatroom I'm known as Justme. |
