A Nine Day Reducing Diet

    BREAKFAST

 

Any 100 calorie portion of fruit. One cup ready to serve or 3/4 cup hot cereal with ½ cup skim milk; or 1 soft cooked or poached egg with 1 thin slice enriched or whole wheat toast. One cup black coffee. Non calorie sweetener may be used.

First Day....Lunch: carrot, orange and lettuce salad, 1 thin slice whole wheat bread, 1 glass skim or buttermilk

Dinner: Broiled liver(or substitute a small steak or pork chop, extra lean) 1 cup quick cooked cabbage, Lettuce, cucumber, and tomato salad. ½ grapefruit.

Second Day : Lunch. 1 soft cooked or poached egg, 1 thin slice whole wheat toast, celery hearts, 1 cup butter or skim milk.

Dinner: 2 broiled medium hamburgers, 10 stalks asparagus with lemon, Mixed Green Salad of lettuce, green pepper, watercress, etc, ½ grapefruit.

Third Day..: Lunch: 1 veal chop(lean meat only) 1 serving cooked spinach, Hearts of lettuce, 1 glass butter or skim milk

Dinner: Broiled steak, 1 large serving broccoli, tomato and endive salad, ½ grapefruit.

Fourth Day....: Salad of ½ cup skim milk, cottage cheese1/4 head lettuce, 1 tomato, 1 glassbutter or skim milk

Dinner: 2 thick lamb chops(lean meat only) ½ cup stewed tomatoes1/2 cup summer squash, salad of shredded cabbage, chives or onion and grated raw carrot.

Fifth Day...: Lunch: 1 glass tomato juice 1 soft-coo0ked or poached egg, ½ thin slice whole wheat bread.

Dinner : Broiled halibut, cod, haddock or catfish. Season to taste. ½ cup beet greens, ½ cup celery, hearts of lettuce, ½ grapefruit.

Sixth Day....:Lunch: 1 small hamburger, broiled, Raw celery, 1 cup stewed tomatoes, 1 glass butter or skim milk.

Dinner2 braised veal chops9lean meat only) 1 cup white turnips, ½ cup spinach or other vegetable. Lettuce cucumber, and tomato salad, ½ grapefruit.

Seventh Day..Lunch: 1 small lamb chop(lean meat only), 1 serving hot vegetable, Shredded lettuce salad, 1 glass butter or skim milk.

Dinner: 1 generous serving roast beef or roast lamb9lean meat only), 1 cup cauliflower, ½ summer squash, tomato and water cress salad., ½ grapefruit

Eighth Day..: Lunch : 1 soft cooked or poached egg, 1 thin slice of whole wheat toast, 1 glass butter or skim milk

Dinner: Broiled liver(6 oz) ½ cup green beans, ½ cup okra and tomatoes, mixed shredded raw vegetable salad, ½ grapefruit.

Ninth Day.....: Lunch: Salad1/2 cup skim milk, cottage cheese, chopped green pepper and green onions, hearts of lettuce, 1 thin slice whole wheat toast, 1 glass butter or skim milk

Dinner:2 broiled hamburgers or sirloin steak(lean meat only) 10 stalks asparagus, Shredded cabbage, green pepper, and sliced tomato salad, ½ grapefruit.

Note: I’ve found that substitutions can be made for the meat(I don’t like liver, so I’ll use catfish instead)
