The room monitors here at Recovery Realm are here for one purpose only: to ensure the safety of the chatters in the room by enforcing Realm policies.
The monitors are not here to resolve personal disputes, to get involved in he said/she said arguments between chatters, or to take sides in such matters.
Recovery Realm assumes that the people who come to our site are looking for support in recovery, and we aim to provide this support. Whenever there is a gathering of diverse people, particularly those in varying stages of recovery, there will be differences of opinion, different approaches to recovery, and different philosophies. Recovery Realm embraces all of these, except when these differences hurt others or the site itself.
Please do not expect monitors to intervene on your behalf if you have a problem with another chatter. The redline function was designed for this purpose, so you can ignore someone who is bothering you. Running to a monitor or other chatters to complain about someone is tantamount to gossip, and will not be tolerated.
In the event you see a chatter obviously violating one of the rules of Recovery Realm through excessive foul language, religious, racial or sexual slandering, notify a monitor. If a monitor is not available, please make a note of the date and time and report the behavior to recoveryrealm@yahoo.com, and we will review the transcripts, and take appropriate action.
We all need to remember that love and tolerance is our code. 12 Step programs have given us guides to dealing with others in an acceptable manner – let us be examples of how the program works by putting the principles to work. |
