putersmile1.gif  Do you remember sitting in a chat room, watching people chat, or even chatting yourself? Do you remember receiving so many forwards that your mailbox was ready to explode? How about receiving an e-mail from someone just searching for a friend. Did you wonder who these people might be that are behind the keyboard?

Online we meet new people from all around the world. Some we chat with just once and then we go on. Others we chat with time and time again, and a friendship is made. Others become our e-mail buddies, and we look  forward to their e-mails each day, but have you ever really wondered who was really behind the keyboard?

So often we meet a friend in chat we stay up all night chatting, sometimes we laugh so hard we cannot type, other times we cry and our keyboards are stained from tears. We chat about our lives, and help solve each others' problems, we lend a shoulder if we can. Did you ever think to yourself, who is really behind that keyboard?

Did you ever chat with someone that promised you the world and that your friendship will be forever, and then they are gone? Do you forget about them and move on, or do you wonder "who was that person really, that was behind the keyboard?

Have you ever hid behind your keyboard, pretending to be something you are not, just to boost your ego? As you sat there and typed have you ever lied, thinking "who cares, the person behind the keyboard, it is only a fake person?" Did you ever hurt someone thinking "it's only a game"?

Well, behind each and every keyboard are very real people, some might be heartless cold people, not caring who they hurt, but then there are people that are caring, loyal, honest and all kinds of people hoping for some companionship, friendship online.

Behind the keyboard can be someone who is seriously depressed and their only hope is to make a friend, maybe an aging person who once had a family, but now they live too far apart to see one another, perhaps there is someone that cannot walk anymore or a person so ill they are in the house forever. Maybe even there is a person so drunk or so addicted they  can only manage to reach out through the world wide web.

As we enter the world of the Internet we should remember, it is a very real world and behind each and every keyboard is a person who has a heart.

No one has a life that is pain free, so as we go online whether in chat or just e-mailing, we must remember to treat each person the way that we want to be treated, to respect each others' feelings, and to offer friendship, because the truth is, we really do not know who is behind the keyboard or what kind of hurt someone may be feeling.

To be the best to others that you can be should be the "key" to a good, honest life.

Love,
Someone behind a keyboard putersmile1.gif

Good Morning,

I am the person behind the keyboard looking for Expperience, strength and hope.

I am becoming overwhelmed by life again.

I go to meetings, clam up and have a hard time getting to know people.

Everyone says they help but??????????HOW

Welcome CJB. Glad you  found  us.

I hope you  will be able to  find  some helpful words of  wisdom here on the site and from some of the members who  frequent this place of Recovery. I discovered whether you are behind the  keyboard or behind the front door to a meeting hall, you  must enter each place of recovery  with an open mind.

If you are in  recovery this does not make you immune to the daily  stresses of life. Drunk or sober, life has a way  of smacking you in the face  from time to time. It is almost impossible to completely eliminate stress from your life.

There are stressful events in normal, everyday life. When you are concerned about your sobriety, stress can increase. Because stress is unpredictable, you may find it helpful to think about ways you can manage stress before you actually have to deal with it. It's essential that you have a plan. Not all stressful situations can be managed in the same way, but you may feel more confident knowing you have a place to start.

This site is  filled with  people who have been where you are  right now, and they  manage there ways out of it. Search them out, ask them questions, and most imortantly  listen to  and implement their suggestions.

Embrace the Journey

I just stumbled across this post and it hit home for me.

For me this has become on on line home for me and so many of you here are like family to me.

What CBJ posted also hit home for there are many things going on in my life now that make it hard to get to meetings and do many of the things I am used to.

Being here gives me the chance to open up and to get that Touch of Grace" I get when I am in contact with other folk in recovery.

Thanks Skye.

Here is an answer I found to who is behind the keyboard of Our Rooms.  We all wonder what each of us look like and as we say closing Prayer do you find yourself looking at the Name of the People you are holding hands with?

Well  I do.

This is something I found that best describes my thoughts of who is Really behind that Computer Screne

Wow....

I am sure that alot of people don't think about who is on the other side of the screen. I actually do think about the person at the other end of the keyboard. I ask myself how I would feel if i had someone that is was chatting with lie to me or say something unkind. I know that would hurt no matter who they are. Cause we are all human and have human feelings and responses. So, take a minute to think about the person at the other end of they keyboard and remember that they too have feelings. What we say here can effect someone else.

Merry thank you for your post. It is so accurate.

Love to all of my friends here at the Realm who are honest and caring individuals.

Suz
