Center your heart and cultivate your spirit.

Thought this was quite cool. A friend of mine gave me this bookmark tonight while we sat together eating pizza and watching "The others". With it came the Chinese words for it as well. I am thinking a great tatoo.

What else comes to mind now is what it says and what it means to me. How I go about centering my heart and culivating my spirit? Good question I think, don't you?

I center my heart by using step 11. This is where I sit quietly and talk to and listen to God. The one of my understanding. This is where I tell Him whats going on in my life and how I am feeling. This is where I ask Him for direction and the next thought, where I ask that my will be aligned with His and ask that I remain humble. This is where I listen to that inner voice that I believe to be my God directing me. Maintaining my conscious contact with Him.

Cultivating my spirit. This to me is step 12. Where having had a spiritual awakening I carry this messge to other alcoholics and practice these principals in all my affairs. That by doing the work suggested, living by the steps so outlined, and by doing the service work availed to me by remaining sober my spirit, grows in the fertile ground of AA. By watching those that came in before me grow and by watching those that followed me here grow so too does my faith in AA and my God grow, and so too does my spirit.

Although when I die my body may return to the earth as ashes I pray that I die sober and that my spirit lives well in the realm of recovery

My heart is in the center and so is my God.

I am in love with Alcoholics Anonymous and I owe it and all I have to it and God that through you I have been shown a path worthy of following........

Womderful thoughts for this day Glenn!  I keep my centered by having conversations through the day with my HP.  Staying in gratitude, and forgiving others and myself as soon as the need arises.  My intention this day, is to love God, to love and serve others!

Stay in the sunshine of the Spirit.........lovlee

Thanks, this reminded me of one of my favorite paragraphs in the 12 x 12:

"Those of us who have come to make regular use of prayer would no more do without it than we would refuse air, food, or sunshine. And for the same reason. When we refuse air, light, or food, the body suffers. And when we turn away from meditation and prayer, we likewise deprive our minds, our emotions, and our intuitions of vitally needed support. As the body can fail its purpose for lack of nourishment, so can the soul. We all need the light of God's reality, the nourishment of His strength, and the atmosphere of His grace. To an amazing extent the facts of A.A. Life confirm this ageless truth. "

I just love that underlined part and the mastery of those words!
