Hello Ham and welcome to the forum :)

We have meetings here nightly, and generally have a few people here regularly in the evenings. that is probably the best time to find people to chat with.

Hello - just wanted to poke my head in and say to say hello.  I have been free from alcohol (and any other mind altering drug) for six years.  (Grace of my Higher Power)  Looking forward to getting to know you.

Hi I am new to all this but can finally admit I have a drinking problem and need help. I am hoping that I can beat alcohol once and for all this time, for me, my husband and my beautiful children. I feel like the support of a community can help me and I am looking forward to recovery.

Greetings stayathome :)

Miracles happen in this program. What I suggest is that you find a local AA meeting and go to it, find a sponsor and begin to work the steps.
It works when you work it :)

Not sure if this is the right spot for this post but Im new here as of today. My name is Jim and just last week my girlfriend left me due to my drinking. Both my mother and father died from alcohol, mother from cirosis (spelling?) who I found dead in her room, and my father a few years later from what was believed to be self inflicted. I became an alcoholic at 18 and have struggled with it since. Two years ago I broke my back in a drunk leap off a balcony and became addicted to pain killers for over a year but quit drinking that night I leaped so basically I replaced my addiction for another.

I struggled with pain pills untill I suddenly ran out of ways to get them and decided what better time to quit. So I made it a week or so into withdrawls and got tired of feeling like total crap so I decied to get a drink, and that was it, the alcohol was back. I began drinking everyday after work then in the mornings and lost my job. We lost the apartment and moved in with her parents where I then quit again on the grounds that I couldnt live there if I drank. Well I made it a few weeks and started with sneaking it, then reciently it got to the point I couldnt control it or hide it. Last thursday I had a job interview and got the job, decided to celebrate by myself with a few pints, my girlfriend found out and told her parents who then kicked me out. I would have started work monday and the stress of living in her parents basement would have been gone had I just not drank .

So I moved back to Jersey on Fri to live with family that dosent really understand or want to for that matter so talking to them is a waist. The girlfriend kept our car and shut my phone off and basically left me with nothing, not that I blame her. So where im at is a very low spot in life, I love my girl to death and never meant to hurt her, she cares very much for me as well but believes she cant trust me and assures me as much as her heart is torn out we can never be together again and of all the things bothering me that hurts the worst because I feel I can get better and I can be trusted Im just angry I dint see it comming and fixed things before all this. I want more than anything to be normal and have my family back with her but im lost. A friend of mine that has been sober for 8 years reached out to me for the first time in 8 years and suggested I talk to people and get help he says will power wont do it when the demon your fighting is yourself. So here I am. Again, I hope this is the right spot and sorry if I rambled a bit but I wanted to get it all out, looking for help and where to go from here to get my life back and keep it that way. Thanks in advance.

Welcome Gemini :) and you are in the right place. Being from NJ originally (Phoenix now) I can tell you that there are TONS of good meetings in NJ, as well as in NYC. That is where the miracles happen. What I suggest is that you go with your friend to a meeting, get to know and be known. Give yourself an honest shot at recovery by doing the work.
We have meetings here nightly at 10 PM your time, and you are welcome to come into the chat room and meet the good people here

Hope to see you there, and I'll keep you in my prayers :)

New to this group but not new to recovery.  Been an interesting journey that has recently led me back to the college classrooms which, in an of itself, is another interesting journey.  I'm from Pennsylvania and an avid golfer, currently retired from the corporate world, as well as, the Armed Services.  Would like to hear from others in terms of where you are, where you'd like to be.  Thanks and have a great day.

Hi everyone. (:
My name is Melissa, and I am in a residential 5-7 month treatment center.
My counselor wanted me to find websites that could be useful to me in my recovery.
This is the best one I have found so far.
I really like NA meetings, and I'm excited to try an online one.
