I just got back from a meeting tonight and it really struck me that it is time to get seriously involved in my recovery. Don't get me wrong, I have been working on my addiction to alcohol everyday since I left rehab. My life is soo much better than it was, it isn't even funny. I am happy, healthy and so gratefull to GOD for what he has given me. I know this truely my second chance.

I don't know if I am typical of other alcoholics in not getting more inviolved in AA. I go to meetings, but I don't have a sponsor yet. I know I should have one by now. I ve been extremely lucky in my recovery so far. The counseling I had and the lessons I have learned have kept me sober so far. Like every alcoholic I have challenges to face, and I hope that maybe by sharing my experiences so far, it will help me. and maybe, just maybe someone else like me.

Re: Getting after it.

Getting a sponsor is a good idea.
Congrats on 60 days.
I've been working with a sponsor for eight months now and I will have to say this time around (I'm a relapser) has been a journey of self-discovery. As I write inventory as my sponsor suggests I reveal dysfunctional thinking patterns and belief systems that lead me to drink/do drugs.
I am so grateful to have found this site! Last night I was going batty, eating junk food and smoking cigarettes till the cows came home (ha ha ha)! Clean but not very serene... I feel so much more connected now.
What I was told when looking for a sponsor listen for someone who has what you want. For instance, my sponsor has quit smoking and is a recovering eating disorder. Plus it's comforting to know I have someone with more experience than I staying sober to call when I'm having a hard time...
Kudos on you sober time. Early recovery is a bumpy road...

Re: Getting after it.

I can relate to your blog Bradley whole lots! I also go to meetings and read when asked but getting involved more is something I have to work on. I am almost 9 months sober but still haven't chaired a meeting or anything that will make me get involved more. I do have a sponser but I am just now getting thru the dreaded 4th step! Keep working and so will I...congrats on 60 days!
